World Literature - Arabian Literatures

Arabian literature has the element of mystery and enchantment in most of their works. Mostly it comprises of history, philosophy, tales of romance and religious treatise. What comes into my mind usually in Arabian literature is that it is always painted by the luxurious, fantastic and racy tales of Arabia and the Moslem world. You may be familiar of the great days of Baghdad, Cairo and Cordova and your imagination of the crowded bazaars, mosques, Arab sheiks and veiled women which always captivates our enthusiasm in their works.

Arabian poetry began during the time of Mohammed, the founder of the Moslem Faith. After poetry, various literary pieces became famous such as anecdotes, tales and religious commentaries and interpretations. Take for example the Koran. This is their Mohammedan Bible which dominated the whole Muslim world.

In Arabian literature, the Arabian Nights is one of their masterpiece ever made.
